Symmetry Edge Network Controller Provides IP Distributed Intelligence at the Door

Torrance, CA, April 2, 2008 – AMAG Technology’s revolutionary new Symmetry Edge Network Controller provides IP distributed intelligence at the door for a complete IP based access control solution that operates with the Symmetry Security Management System (SMS).

The Symmetry Edge Network Controller utilizes Power over Ethernet (PoE), providing up to 700 mA of power. This eliminates a separate power supply, excessive cable usage and provides cost savings.

The Symmetry Edge Network Controller operates as the controller, but provides access control capabilities at the edge of the network. Every function is controlled at the door, rather than going back to a main intelligent controller.

It supports up to 50,000 credentials and 10,500 off-line transactions. It is supported by version 6.02 or later of Symmetry Business, Professional or Enterprise Security Management Software. A separate Symmetry Homeland version is also available.

The Symmetry Edge Network Controller reduces installation costs dramatically by utilizing an on-board LAN interface and removes the need for a separate power feed for the reader and lock. Direct network discovery and programming using Symmetry SMS will save Symmetry Authorized Resellers installation time and allow them to bid more competitively.

The Symmetry Edge Network Controller supports a full range of reading technologies including magnetic stripe, smart card, proximity, biometrics and Wiegand.
